About the Class
Purdue University offers a wide variety of Computer Graphics classes at their Polytechnic Institute. CGT 10100 served as the first introductory course that all computer graphics majors must take. The course mainly served as a foundational overview that all computer graphic majors should know in their future careers.
The topics included the applications of computer graphics in today's world, basic technical elements of computer graphics, a review of current and future career opportunities in the field, and areas of potential research and study in computer graphics technology. The programs we learned were all adobe products: Illustrator, Photoshop, and AfterEffects

Final Project: Animation
November 2018 - December 2018
The final project, "Dog Days", was a combination of all the skills we learned over the semester as well as learning a new program Adobe AfterEffects. The project required us to create a minimum of 20 second animation. My inspiration for creating the animation was my dog, Tiki. I always see her sitting at the door waiting to explore the backyard multiple times in the day. The "Dog Days" story tells of how she always wants to go outside when the other dogs are playing but the weather keeps her from the fun.
The project required me to create all the individual assets from the puddles to the wagging tail to the blinking eyes. Not only was the project a visual display but also an audio display. I needed to find each individual sound and connect them with the visuals on screen. I was very happy with the finished result of this project and hope to make more projects like this in the future.
Supplemental Assignments
August 2018 - October 2018

All three of these supplemental projects helped prepare us for the final project. Two of these projects were learning Adobe Photoshop and the last was learning Adobe Illustrator. I already knew both of these programs beforehand so I excelled in all of these projects.
The first project, "The Motivator", was a photo manipulation project to create a fake movie poster. My idea came from the classic Saturday Night Live sketch with Chris Farley as Mat Foley the inspirational speaker. The characters were already set by the sketch and I decided to make the movie poster similar to the style of the original "The Godfather" poster.
The next project, "Parkside Pub", was a coloring book project in photoshop. The project required finding a geometric object (preferably a building) and tracing out all the lines of the object. I chose this particular building because it is a very popular pub in my hometown. Once all the lines were traced out of the object, I needed to fill in all the shapes with colors. The colors were much harder than one would think, the colors we see may not be consistent throughout an entire shape.
The last project before the final, "Sales of the 10 leading Cracker Brands in the US (2017)", was an infographic project to display a data set. All of these individual crackers had to be made and duplicated to be displayed in a pie graph. I chose crackers because goldfish crackers are some of my favorite snack foods! This was easily my favorite project to make just because the end results was very satisfying to see.
